Professional Training

We provide 1:1 and group BCaBA and BCBA supervision for students enrolled in ABAI-approved graduate programs. Students are selected on a rolling, case-by-case basis. In order to be considered, please submit a statement of professional goals and CV along with a list of the BACB courses completed and in-progress.

BCBA candidates are required to complete 1500 hours of supervised independent fieldwork in behavior analysis. NYBAPS offer hands-on training to develop your clinical skills as a BCBA and get you ready for the BCBA exam. Because we have expertise in ABA and clinical psychology, you will have abundant opportunities to gain experience conducting various evaluations, implement evidence-based treatment, and apply behavioral principals to individuals with (and without) ASD and related conditions.

Please note that we require on-the-job (in-vivo) supervision for each of our students in order to faithfully adhere to the BACB requirements. This allows us to verify that you are indeed involved in behavior-analytic work at your placement of employment for which you are accruing supervision hours. It also helps us figure out your actual clinical hours. Initially, on-the-job supervision will occur frequently (e.g., about every 3rd or 4th supervision). Many students find this helpful (not to mention convenient, as we travel to your worksite). Later on, we will augment on-the-job supervision with video recordings. In many settings, a prior administrative and client approval may be necessary for us to observe your skills in-vivo and to view your video recordings).
Supervision Locations
We conduct supervision in Manhattan and Staten Island. Because we value direct one-to-one interactions with our students and being able to observe their clinical skills in-vivo, we do not provide remote supervision.

Important: Current New York State (NYS) graduate students should be aware that NYS Office of Professions proposed rule on education and supervised experience requirements are inconsistent with the national BACB requirements. That is, meeting the requirements for BACB will not necessarily make you eligible for licensure as a behavior analyst (LBA) in the State New York.
